Hey guys it’s Bandit again. Sorry it has been a bit since my last post, still need to get into a habit of doing this frequently.
With that said, today’s review will be on a game that I absolutely love. Mega Man Legends.
Mega Man Legends was developed by Capcom and released in 1997. Mega Man Legends is the 3 series in the Mega Man franchise. A port of the game was released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, being called Mega Man 64. The game has a prequel and a sequel; The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legends 2. This is the 1st time that Mega Man had entered a 3D plane, bringing along a new action adventure type of gameplay to the Mega Man universe breaking away for the side scrolling was of its predecessors. I have always been a big fan of the Mega Man series, but in my personal opinion, Legends easily made its way to the top of my list.
You play as Mega Man Volnutt, a digger who searches underground caves and dungeons for the great treasure Mother Lode. The story of Mega Man legends is one that kept me very interested when the game released, as well as when I replayed the game (over and over and over). Your goal is to search the island of Kattelox in search of clue for the Mother Lode while protecting the island from the Bonne Pirates, Reaverbots, and ancient evils. Legends introduces 2 characters that still show up in recent Capcom games. The first being Tron Bonne who had her own spin off prequel and showing up in the many Capcom Vs. games, and the other being Servbot who became and unofficial mascot for Capcom showing up in Dead Rising and Pocket Fighter as well as the Capcom Vs. games with Tron Bonne.
Mega Man Legends had a few issues that got on my nerves while replaying it. The camera controls made fighting with the many Reaver hordes difficult because there was no way of telling if there was an enemy behind you, resulting in getting smashed in the back a lot. During gameplay you if you want to save you have to search for Data, the storage monkey. Problem with this is, he is either on the complete opposite side of the island or only shows up right before a fight, so if you are planing of dungeon crawling in a hurry you had better think again because if you you die you must restart from a save. The boss fights are challenging but not impossible. The controls will take some getting use to if you only play games from current times.
If you like dungeon crawler as well as over the shoulder shooters then you need to head over to amazon and pick up a copy of this amazing game for yourself. This game game has an amazing robust story that will keep you entertained the entire game. The art style of the game has a similar feel to the X series in the franchise, and the voice acting in the game was pretty good, I didn’t find myself muting the game or switching the language due to terrible acting. I highly recommend this game for Mega Man fans, action adventure fans, and anyone who love a good story. Hopefully I can find a working copy of the prequel and sequel for later reviews. GO PLAY THIS GAME! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
