Mega Man Legends

Hey guys it’s Bandit again. Sorry it has been a bit since my last post, still need to get into a habit of doing this frequently.
With that said, today’s review will be on a game that I absolutely love. Mega Man Legends.

Mega Man Legends was developed by Capcom and released in 1997. Mega Man Legends is the 3 series in the Mega Man franchise. A port of the game was released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, being called Mega Man 64. The game has a prequel and a sequel; The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legends 2.  This is the 1st time that Mega Man had entered a 3D plane, bringing along a new action adventure type of gameplay to the Mega Man universe breaking away for the side scrolling was of its predecessors. I have always been a big fan of the Mega Man series, but in my personal opinion, Legends easily made its way to the top of my list.

You play as Mega Man Volnutt, a digger who searches underground caves and dungeons for the great treasure Mother Lode. The story of Mega Man legends is one that kept me very interested when the game released, as well as when I replayed the game (over and over and over). Your goal is to search the island of Kattelox in search of clue for the Mother Lode while protecting the island from the Bonne Pirates, Reaverbots, and ancient evils. Legends introduces 2 characters that still show up in recent Capcom games. The first being Tron Bonne who had her own spin off prequel and showing up in the many Capcom Vs. games, and the other being Servbot who became and unofficial mascot for Capcom showing up in Dead Rising and Pocket Fighter as well as the Capcom Vs. games with Tron Bonne.

Mega Man Legends had a few issues that got on my nerves while replaying it.  The camera controls made fighting with the many Reaver hordes difficult because there was no way of telling if there was an enemy behind you, resulting in getting smashed in the back a lot. During gameplay you if you want to save you have to search for Data, the storage monkey. Problem with this is, he is either on the complete opposite side of the island or only shows up right before a fight, so if you are planing of dungeon crawling in a hurry you had better think again because if you you die you must restart from a save. The boss fights are challenging but not impossible. The controls will take some getting use to if you only play games from current times.

If you like dungeon crawler as well as over the shoulder shooters then you need to head over to amazon and pick up a copy of this amazing game for yourself. This game game has an amazing robust story that will keep you entertained the entire game. The art style of the game has a similar feel to the X series in the franchise, and the voice acting in the game was pretty good, I didn’t find myself muting the game or switching the language due to terrible acting. I highly recommend this game for Mega Man fans, action adventure fans, and anyone who love a good story. Hopefully I can find a working copy of the prequel and sequel for later reviews. GO PLAY THIS GAME! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Viva Piñata

Hey guys, its Bandit!
I’m here to bring you our blogs 1st review. The game we will be talking about today is Viva Piñata for the Xbox 360.

Viva Piñata released on the Xbox360 back in November 2006, spawning 2 sequels, a party game spin off, and a TV show. The game is developed by Rare, and if you don’t know who Rare I suggest you go do a wiki search on them, because during my childhood they were gods among men. That is, until Microsoft picked them up. This game is one of the few games since MS has had them that I haven’t completely hated. When I 1st picked this game up it wasn’t until 2008. I must say I regret not not picking it up sooner. I spent hours playing this game. Collecting piñatas, growing my garden, fighting off enemies. There was just so much to do with this being a garden simulator. You play a piñata farmer; and your goal is raise piñatas nice enough to be chose for the entertainment at children’s parties.

To progress in the game you need to breed and attract piñatas to your piñata garden. Yes I said breed piñatas. You make piñatas happy and you breed them to get more piñatas to attract other types of  piñatas. You make your piñatas happy by improving your garden and giving them candy to eat. After each piñata is happy and has all requirements met, you will achieve a romance which will pretty much make you play a quirky mini game. While the mini games aren’t easy, they aren’t a challenge either. The mini game is just a simple get piñata A to piñata B. Each piñata  has a different board for the mini game though, so you wont be doing the same thing over and over. Breeding isn’t the only way to get piñatas to join your garden. Just like with breeding you can get piñatas to visit by meeting certain requirements in your garden. Such as having a certain amount of water to land, or having another type of piñata already in your garden. There are many different ways and things to do get piñatas to come and join, and that’s what makes this game so much fun.

The game visual appearance is very cartoony and fun. It is a stunning game to look at and the character design is very well done. Whether its be the piñatas design or the the design of the NPCs, this game will leave you please you took a gander at it. The game is a simulator( just want to reiterate that). It can very addicting if you like this kind of game and I highly suggest giving this game a play through. Technically this game game doesn’t have an ending since the game isn’t story driven. This game isn’t without its flaws though. There a few camera issues that made destroy something I had been working on. Also you are limited to a certain amount of space and there isn’t a warning when you reach that limit. They just tell you after you get that  you always wanted to join but can’t because you were full. The game lists multiplayer, but don’t get your hopes up. You can only trade piñatas and items. So its not a great big aspect to the game.

The piñatas design is very well done.

The piñatas design is very well done.

If you like farming and simulator games I highly suggest this game. If you are not into those kind of games, just skip it cause you will not like this at all.The game can get pretty redundant at times so if you aren’t into that sort of this I suggest you skip it as well.
While this game may not be for everyone’s tastes I highly enjoyed spending time on this game. It did a have few camera issues at times but the controls for the game were pretty solid, and the stunning visual graphics made up for it a bit. All in all this game was a huge delight for me and was one worth adding to library. I haven’t played either of the sequels yet which is a surprise to me because I enjoyed this game so much. Maybe on another review.
If I had to rate this game I would give it a 7/10.

Welcome to my Blog

So bear with me, this is my 1st time trying a blog. I’ve heard that word press is just about the best and most professional blog site out there. I am not known as the most grammatically correct person but I will try my best.
So I am just going to use this 1st post to introduce myself and let you know what I plan to do with this blog.
My name is Cory Dickey.I go by the user name The LOL Bandit( hence the name of the blog). I work as a cook for a hotel in Orlando, Fl. My one main dream is to open a restaurant of my own some day. I’ve been through culinary school, and worked many different restaurants. I love what I do. I have a wonderful girlfriend, Kim, who takes care of me. (She is the one who suggested I start a blog.) Now as a cook, I am naturally a very vulgar person, so this is your warning for my blog. While I will try to be as…. “normal” as possible, please don’t rip me a new one for me just being me. We have 3 cats. Mauki(the oldest), Chowder(the orange one), and Loki(the furry one with the attitude). We also have a dog named Chopper.I have many different hobbies that I like to do to take up my spare time.

I collect comic books, although right now since my move to Orlando my collection seems to be suffering. I am a HUGE Batman fanboy, always have been and always will be. I am always looking for new comics to read so if you have any suggestions that you think I would like please don’t be afraid to suggest. I am open to read anything once!

I love to cook, which is why I became a “Chef” (work in process) and I love to feed to most people. I say most because there are just some people that cannot be happy with what they order. While I understand the guest is always(sometimes) right, don’t be a bitch about it. I am working on trying to open my own food truck before I dive right into a home-base restaurant. And maybe sometime soon I will start a food blog where I post recipes and pictures and the usual food stuffs. This is NOT that blog.

One of my other major hobbies is that I LOVE to play video games. So much so that I almost went into designing them. I opted out cause I don’t think I could still love them the same if I actually created them. Kim and I play video game ALOT. Together, separate, with friends, with each others friends. You name it and we will play it. We have an extensive library of games. Ranging from NES through PC and next gen consoles. Which bring me to the point of this blog page.

Kim, Myself and some friends were actually talking about how much we play video games, and between all of we also realized how critical we are of games. So we all came up with an idea of creating a blog that let us give you our OPINIONS of the games we play. While the games we play will be new games, we also wanted to play old games for several reasons.
With a younger generation of gamers coming around, we have realized that most of them do not know what games like Zelda and Panzer Dragoon are. So we wanted to play older games to reeducate or remind the younger gamers what game like these are and how good they can be. Also I it gives us a nice reason to go back and relive our childhood through the games we’ve played. While I want to post pictures of the games we play, I do not have the equipment to do so. So most of the pictures will be from shitty phone cameras or taken from the interwebs. And we will make sure to give credit to whom ever pictures we use. So please feel free to tell me what you think of this blog once it gets rolling. I’m not sure how often we will update but I hope it will be frequently. I feel like I am really going to enjoy this.
